Everyday activities can leave your jewelry covered in oils, dirt, and dust, which may reduce its sparkle and hide the stones’ brilliance, and can also harm plating or delicate finishes. Regular cleaning protects the shine and helps prolong the life of both the stones and the metal.

How to Clean Your Jewelry: Simple Tips for Lasting Shine

How to Clean Your Jewelry at Home
Cleaning at home is simple and doesn’t require special tools. Start by soaking your pieces in a bowl of warm water. Add a small amount of mild, non-moisturizing dish soap or a gentle jewelry cleaner—avoid moisturizing products, as they can leave a film on the surface. After soaking for about 15–20 minutes, gently scrub with a clean, soft-bristled toothbrush to lift any remaining dirt. Pay special attention to the underside of settings, behind stones, inside links and clasps, and along chains. When you’re done, rinse with clean water and let the pieces dry naturally on a soft cloth.

Other Tips and Precautions
For best results, clean your jewelry every one to two weeks. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach, ammonia, acetone, alcohol, or toothpaste/baking soda, as these can corrode plating or scratch stones. If a piece is plated (gold-plated/vermeil), be especially gentle—excessive scrubbing can wear away the surface layer. For soft or porous gems (e.g., pearls, opal, emerald, turquoise), do not soak; instead, wipe with a slightly damp soft cloth only.

With these simple steps, your earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and pendants will keep their sparkle and beauty, letting you enjoy their brilliance every day.
